I was talking to my six year old granddaughter, who recently came and spent a few days with me. We did a variety of fun activities during the day that most six year old girls enjoy doing at their grandma's house. We made playdough, played hide & seek, and a few games of checkers. As the hours passed, she took her bath and wanted me to read her some bedtime stories in which I so enjoyed doing for her. After we read a few stories, she began to say her prayers and this is what hit my soul.
Have you ever really listened to a six year old talk to Jesus? It put a whole new meaning on scripture as Jesus tells us to have that child-like faith. She was so grateful, and I mean for everything! She talked to the Lord like she would an old friend. She thanked him for her mother and father, and expressed how much she loved them. She thanked him for her teacher, who helped her learn to read, write, and do math problems. She thanked the Lord for school friends and how she loved being with them each day. She thanked him for keeping her safe at school and not letting anyone shoot her and her friends and teachers. She thanked him for the food, and she thanked him for always being there to listen to her.
Let me tell you how deeply my heart was touched to hear her talk to God. She really gave me a lot to think about afterwards. The part about keeping her and her friends and teachers safe from people who might shoot them. Can you even get your mind around that? It suddenly hit me, that even a six year old has suffered a loss. A loss of safety, and a loss of security, yet she trusted God, and thanked him for providing the safety and security she needed. Her mother is a law enforcement trainer and she shared that the schools do open shooter drills to prepare students in the event that an individual enters the school with the intention to kill. My heart sank to try and fathom the fear these kind of drills leave these children to deal with on their own.
I took things a little further and called my oldest granddaughter, who is eighteen and in her first year of college. We talked about how in the year 2020, her generation changed in so many ways. The losses they endured during the pandemic was shocking. She shared how some of her friends started doing drugs and drinking to numb themselves from the darkness they found themselves. Death was constantly on their minds as the news kept it front and center. They missed out on Senior Proms, football championship games, band concerts, and basically hanging out as most kids her age were doing. Faces that once offered loving smiles, now covered with masks, and school was cancelled and their social life came to a screeching halt.
She shared how now that graduation had come and gone, most of her friends are still suffering in silence as they strive to find their place in an uncertain world, filled with confusion and darkness. How churches seem to be falling apart at a time they need them the most, and how they feel somewhat lost and alone. Some of her friends parents got divorced due to loss of jobs, and the uncertainty we all felt during that time. She asked me if I still helped people with grief, and I told her that I am still trying to be of service, but since Covid hit, people are really struggling with finances, and are isolating more than normal.
She commented how everything seems to look different now. She stated how so many of her friends talk about how lonely and confused they feel. She talked about how she knew things needed to change, and she did not want to embrace being a victim of what is happening all around the world. I explained that it sounded like she was experiencing a spiritual awakening. She stated that so many had lost hope, and we taking antidepressants at such a young age. We discussed the Gospel and how Jesus warned us of spiritual enemies. It was deep to say the least, and after we ended our call, the energy around me shifted. It was an awakening that felt like a burden at first, but I soon realized it was a calling from my higher power, and the Holy Spirit let loose on me in that moment.
"You always believed you would be a world changer, like your mom always told you." I heard His voice, and I knew Holy Spirit was about to create a shift within my heart at that moment. I replied back and said, "Yes, but where do I start? How can I make a difference?" Again, I heard Holy Spirit in the most loving and comforting voice say, "Lead them to me and I will awaken their spirit, and guide them towards the changes that all the loss and fear have caused them. They are all world changers and your generation needs to step up and teach them the gospel and make disciples of them, as Jesus instructed you to do. Is it not written train up a child in the way he should go and when he is grown, he shall not depart from it." I blurted out, "Yes!! My mom always read that verse to me when I was learning how to parent. Proverbs 22:6 I believe is the verse." I instantly felt the loving conviction from Holy Spirit to begin this new chapter.
Trust me when I tell you that God doesn't waste anything. I began to see all the missing pieces of this puzzle so clearly now. All the years I worked with children, then the next chapter spent twenty-eight years in the death industry, helping grieving families, and I always saw the unresolved childhood hurts in every adult in the room. God gave me such a wild spiritual gift, and to be able to see things about people without knowing how at first, I began to realize how I have been misusing this precious gift. My heart reflected back to Ecclesiastes, A Time for Everything. I believe we are all about to step into that time. When time steps into eternity is known as Kairos. I realized how many people are either mad at God for one reason or another, and trust me, I, too, have been there. I didn't know how to hear God's voice, yet I saw things as a child that I couldn't explain.
We are all entering The Great Awakening. The year of 2025 is going to reveal all kinds of darkness, and evil that surrounds us. God is revealing the wrong doings of His beloved church and is shaking Heaven itself. People are feeling emotions they have never felt before, as if the Rapture is on our doorsteps. Nobody knows for certain when that time will come, but God. Jesus gave his disciples the 'signs' of His return, but he also confessed that he didn't know the day nor the time of His return. How about you? Are you feeling a shift within your spirit? Do you yearn for peace, prosperity, health, and purpose? If so, you're not alone. People all over the world are awakening to this powerful shift. We have free will and we choose for ourselves whether we will accept Christ as Lord and Savior.
I often questioned God about all the losses I have endured within my own life, His reply, "I need you to relate." I see it all so clearly now. I need to relate with the pain of loss, death, and suffering. I needed to experience for myself what His Word states and how powerful forgiveness truly is, and how making amends restores so much. No, I am not talking about religious rituals, laying out crystals, lighting incense, and burning candles. I am talking about a total surrender, to God, our creator, our healer, our provider, and our source of everything. Do you know Him? There was a time when I didn't know him, but I knew of him. We are now in the midst of a spiritual battle and I cannot tell you enough how grateful I am to be chosen to go into this battle. We need to mentor the young adults who is are about to step out into this world. We all need to start within our own families, our own communities, and be the change we want to see.
Personally, I would like to see children playing safely in their own neighborhoods, to see them restored and feel safe going to school, and to see the fear they carry be replaced with faith, hope and love. I want to see families restored, healed so children have both a mother and a father. I want to see the confusion wiped away, and have our moral compass in place. We have allowed so much darkness in our lives and we cannot place blame on anything but ourselves for allowing it. I hope this gave some of you something to think about. I hope you will talk to your children and grandchildren about how they are coping with all their little eyes and ears have had to take in recently. I hope you feel led to blow the dust of your Bible and pray for the answers you need. God is always listening, and we sometime treat God like a genie in a bottle. Let us all stop talking to God when we need a favor, because he already knows we need a lot of favor these days.

Lord, you have placed all the desires of their heart, and I pray and ask that you reveal to them what that purpose and calling that you have so lovingly placed within their heart to be reveal and fulfilled, We thank you for you love and guidance. We come together and ask that your will for our lives have the impact to change this dark world in order for your light to shine through and guide us back to your loving arms. In Jesus' name, Amen.
We have a lot to grieve, and know that I am always hear to help you in any way possible. Loss creates change, and fear is always trying to keep us from the beautiful life we all deserve.
